Chick-fil-A Bowl Taps Social Media to Give Fans Inside Access
Bowl gives exclusive access for fans and media via Blogs, Facebook and Twitter

ATLANTA (Nov. 10, 2009) – Did you ever want to know which teams a bowl is looking at and why? What about getting real-time updates from a bowl representative as he scouts a critical conference match-up? Want to know how to be the first to get breaking news and inside information?

If your answers were ‘yes,’ ‘yes’ and ‘oh, yeah,’ then you need to follow the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Facebook and Twitter and keep its weekly team selection blog at the top of your Favorites list.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl has already begun blogging and Tweeting about its team selection process and is inviting ACC and SEC fans to come along for the ride.

Each week on Wednesdays, fans can visit Chick-fil-ABowl.com to read the latest installment of the Bowl’s Team Selection Blog written by selection committee chairman and former Atlanta Falcons head coach Leeman Bennett. The blog will highlight the teams discussed in that week’s team selection meeting and give insight into what the Bowl thinks about a team’s chances. Fans can also post comments and give reasons why their team should be chosen. The blog will also announce which games the Bowl will scout during the coming weekend.

Followers of the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Twitter (

www.twitter.com/chickfilabowl) will receive regular updates on breaking news and Bowl announcements throughout the week and real-time look-ins from actual scouting trips on Saturdays. Tweets can cover anything from meetings with coaches and ADs to great tailgate experiences to what it’s like to watch the game from the sidelines and even former player and celebrity sightings.

“We’re trying to give fans an inside look at how our bowl operates and what really goes on behind the scenes,” said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Bowl president and CEO. “We want to take fans where no other bowl game has allowed them to go before.”

Fans of the Bowl on Facebook (

www.facebook.com/chickfilabowl) will get the latest information on Bowl events, access to special photo albums and video archives and exclusive opportunity to get in on limited promotions, contests and other offers.

“Our goal is to keep it fun and fresh,” Stokan said. “You’ll see content here that just won’t be available anywhere else.”

The Chick-fil-A Bowl plans to remain active on Facebook, Twitter and its blog through the rest of the season, during the team selection process and throughout Bowl Week so fans and media alike can get the complete bowl game experience from an all-new perspective.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the ninth-oldest bowl game in the country and hosts the longest-running rivalry series between the ACC and SEC. Now in its 42nd year, the Chick-fil-A Bowl has established itself as one of the nation’s elite bowl games with a string of 12 consecutive sellouts and has earned a reputation as one of the most competitive bowls in the nation.
