Our mission is to be a sporting event industry leader by embarking on an ambitious and forward-thinking initiative to meet our current needs with as little negative impact on future natural resources as possible. We will strive to benefit to our community through our actions and by positively influencing the actions of our partners, collectively maximizing the impact of our sustainability initiatives.
With the help of our valued partners, we have established our initial areas of focus:
There will be nearly 700 recycling bins located throughout the GWCC, tailgating parking lots, and the Georgia Dome during the game. Parking lot attendants will make recycling easy for tailgaters by passing out specially marked bags for all recycled goods, and then coming back by later to collect them. Please recycle cans and bottles by giving it back!
2. Green Energy
The Chick-fil-A Bowl is powered with Green Energy from Georgia Power. Georgia Power's Green Energy Program is Green-e certified by the Center for Resource Solutions, and the electricity is produced from local renewable resources. Home Depot will be handing out 10,000 coupons for Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs to fans on game day that are recycling.
3. Sustainable Printing
We have begun the process of converting all of our print projects over to FSC certified printers. The Forest Stewardship Council is a certifying body that ensures forests are managed responsibly. Fans can also help by recycling paper.
4. Share the wealth
We can't always plan it exactly right. Which is why our hospitality partners will be donating left over food to local food banks or composting what is left.
